John Grist was a distinguished member of the BBC's current affairs department for many years, editing its flagship series Panorama, and running its current affairs department. In the early ‘80s he came to New York to run the BBC here, in the days of Alastair Cooke.
In his later years in London he was responsible for introducing television to the Houses of Parliament and also wrote a biography of the first senior female executive of the BBC, Grace Wyndham Goldie. He had many fond memories of New York City and visited here often. He would be delighted to know that a scholarship in his name would keep on supporting young people in New York who want to make a career in television and film.
