Patrick Connolly is the Director, Programming and Scheduling at AMC Networks where he oversees and programs multiple feeds internationally for AMC/Sundance Channel Global. Previously he was at Showtime Networks.
He has a diverse background in television, film and theatre having worked in college as a casting intern at Fenton/Feinberg casting on films such as “Back the Future” and “Goonies.” He was a PA on “Commando” starring Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
After college he moved to Scotland to play bagpipes in a top grade pipe band. There he worked at the famous Tron Theatre in Glasgow as a gaffer/PA alongside future late night host Craig Ferguson and Oscar-winner Peter Capaldi . He also worked in ad sales at Scotmedia, a Scotland-wide marketing magazine, and helped produce the Scottish Advertising Awards.
He spent 12 years in Los Angeles and worked at Fox Broadcasting in Children’s Programming in development, animation production, scheduling and programming. He was a production exec on “Avengers” “Woody Woodpecker” “Ned’s Newt” and “Gadget and the Gadgetinis” among others. He then became the Department Head at FOX for children’s television overseeing all divisions.
After children’s television he worked in documentary programming for Sundance Film Festival. He also programmed panels for Outfest Film Festival in LA and ran the most successful panels program in the history of that festival.
He came to New York to work in programming for Sundance Channel where he scheduled the domestic channel with unique film programming and original and acquired series. From there he got a taste of new media working to develop programming and a brand around a mobile phone application.
Presently he is Co-Chair of the Digital/Social Media Committee for BAFTA New York and is also active on the Television and Screening committees. He enjoys moderating the Q & A’s at screenings and has had the good fortune to interview some really interesting guests.
