Meet Meryl Katz, BAFTA New York Board of Directors member focusing on special events.
"For the past 3 years I have worked with Paramount Pictures consulting on their Oscar campaigns for films such as Up in the Air, The Fighter, True Grit, Hugo and Rango. Before that I worked at Miramax Films for 13 years, in that time I worked on Oscar Marketing and Publicity Campaigns for films including
- The Postman (Il Postino), The English Patient, Sling Blade, Good Will Hunting, Shakespeare in Love, Life is Beautiful, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, In the Bedroom, Chicago, Gangs of New York, Frida, The Barbarian Invasions, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Cold Mountain, The Station Agent, City of God, Finding Neverland, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, The Aviator, The Queen, No Country for Old Men, and Doubt. Also at Miramax I produced all their premieres in their entirety.
"I have had the honor of working with BAFTA New York for over 10 years professionally, and have been a proud member of BAFTA New York for the past few years. Working with this organization has always been a pleasure and I would like to bring my experience in film and events to BAFTA New York. My experience in these two fields has provided me with an array of references and contacts which would be very beneficial to BAFTA-EC. Whether working on an event to bring awareness of a film to the public or needing a presenter for an awards show, I would strive and give it my all. I have worked with many organizations in dealing with sponsorship, I know what the companies would like to achieve when they sponsor an event and what they look for. I am able to build on my existing relationships and work with BAFTA New York for the best fit. And I know how hard it can be to secure sponsorship in the current economic climate. I would be proud to serve this organization."
