Jeff Cotugno - Treasurer, Executive Committee, BAFTA New York
For the past 25+ years, I have worked for Don Taffner/DLT Entertainment Ltd in various financial, business and administrative positions.
Starting out as a controller for DLT, which at that time was primarily in the U.S. syndication and worldwide distribution businesses, my position grew alongside the company’s increased activities.
In the early eighties, DLT expanded its business to include international TV production with the establishment of new offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Dublin in addition to enlarging the existing offices in NY, LA, London and Sydney. My responsibilities included supervising all of the budgets for each of these offices and working closely with the individual line producers. I also performed all Treasury functions in consultation with our bankers to manage the cash flow and minimize any debt.
In the more recent past, DLT expanded into the theatre business with an ownership position in an Off-Broadway theatre, co-production of a number of Off-Broadway and Broadway plays and musicals and the acquisition of the Theatre of Comedy in London. TOC’s home is the Shaftesbury Theatre which we primarily rent out to third-party producers. In addition to responsibility for all financial aspects of the Theatre, I am also involved in all negotiations with the producers to bring their shows into the theatre. Over the years these shows have included: Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Carousel, Rent, High Society, Daddy Cool, Fame, Hairspray (which won the 2008 Olivier Award for Best Musical), Burn The Floor and the current production, Rock Of Ages.
My current position is CFO/COO where I work closely with the company president, Don Taffner Jr. and am responsible for all of the financial and administrative operations. On the TV side, in addition to our continuing distribution activities, we have produced a number of long running comedies for the BBC including My Family, UK’s most popular sitcom which recently completed its eleventh year of production and was the recipient of the Golden Rose for Best Situation Comedy at the 2009 Rose d’Or Festival.
