Menabrea: Official Beer Partner, Scotland

Menabrea has been manufactured by the same family, on the same site, for over one hundred and fifty years. There’s no shortage of brands looking to lay claim to that sort of provenance, but very few can demonstrate the continuity of the Menabrea brewery, which has been run by the same family since before the unification of Italy!

The beer is made using five simple ingredients: malted French barley, Hallertau hops from Bavaria, yeast, brewer’s maize and soft water from the surrounding mountains.

There are currently two styles of Menabrea lager available in the UK. The most popular is our ‘bionda’, a 4.8% ABV pale lager that’s well balanced between citrus, bitter tones and floral, fruity undertones which give a consistent and refined flavour. It has a complex malty, hoppy taste with exceptional head retention due to the quality of the ingredients and maturation process.

Our ‘ambrata’ lager, 5.0% ABV, is ideal for those looking for a slightly more bitter and full-bodied taste. Amber in colour with bronze undertones, this lager is an equally fine example of the brewery's exceptional capabilities.
