Tom Hiddleston - Red Carpet Interview, EE British Academy Film Awards in 2015

8 February 2015

Red carpet interview with Tom Hiddleston

Interviewer: Zoe Ball

Q.  I only ever see you in these places, on red carpets.

A.  It is a shame, we should see each other in other places and have lunch or something.

Q.  That would be lovely.  It is very lovely of you to stop and take photographs and talk to all the fans because they were all standing out in the cold.

A.  They are and it is quite cold, I don't know how cold it is, maybe about 5 degrees but they are very much enthusiasts of film and that is great.

Q.  As we all are.  We must talk about the EE Rising Star award.  Incredible nominations, Jack O'Connell, you have Gugu and Shailene Woodley.  It is the only one voted for by the public, all those lovely fans who love film, who is your tip for the favourite?

A.  Oh, that is so tough, isn't it?  They were all great.  I was at RADA with Gugu, so I have known her for 10 years now.  Then I was blown away by the other guy, Jack O'Connell I saw for the first time in Starred Up, the prison drama,he was extraordinary in that, it was like watching De Niro when he was younger, really raw and brilliant, and Miles Teller in Whiplash also seemed to sweat blood and tears for it.  A tough one.

Q.  It is a tough one.  We have a question for you that has come in on Twitter from Arwen Hiddles, massive fan, I would love to ask the handsome Tom Hiddleston do you have any more plans to be on stage?

A.  Stage, I would love to be on stage again soon.  Not this year, I can say, because I am booked up with other very exciting things but it may be in couple of years.  It is something ‑‑ I was in Coriolanus a year ago and I enjoyed it very much, it was nice to kind of get back in front of a live audience and do a whole story over three hours.  It is very different work from film but not soon.

Q.  You are probably quite wrapped up with Age of Ultron and well, Loki has a lot of work to do in the next few years.

A.  Probably, Thor 3 is happening at some point and the last time we saw Loki he was on the throne so there are some questions to be answered.

Q.  Many questions.  I love the fact that he could just go on and on and on with his evilness, it is fantastic.

A.  I don't know if I could.  If I dkep dying my hair black it is going to fall out but I love the character, he is a great, great character and it is amazing how that whole Marvel world has been embraced by people who love films.  It is fun.

Q.  Good luck tonight, I know you are presenting.  What are you presenting?

A.  Presenting Outstanding British Debut by a writer director or producer.

Q.  They are all very strong.

A.  Very strong.
