Allison Janney - Winner's Acceptance Speech, Supporting Actress, EE British Academy Film Awards in 2018

18 February 2018

Winner's acceptance speech by Allison Janney for I, Tonya in the supporting actress category.

ALLISON JANNEY: I want to thank BAFTA, and I want to clear up a little lie that I've perpetrated for the past thirty years. I did not in fact graduate from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. I did, however, attend a two-week summer programme, which is probably the reason I'm standing here right now. It is certainly the reason I fell in love with London and fell in love with the theatre. So this means a great deal to me.

I want to thank the entire I, Tonya team who is here tonight. You are extraordinary, Craig and Margot. I love you.

To team Janney. Some of whom are here tonight, Kevin and Karen.

I want to thank Leon and 30 West and IA for supporting this film from the beginning, and last bit not least I want to thank my dear friend, Steven Rogers, who wrote I, Tonya, this beautiful movie, and he insisted that I was the only actress to play this role. You have given me a gift I'll never forget, my friend. I love you. Cheers.
