The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and Bonhams are proud to present iconic pieces of memorabilia from the world of film and television to feature in the Bonhams Entertainment Memorabilia Sale in London on Tuesday 13 October.
All proceeds of the sale will go to support BAFTA’s year-round charitable activity, which is focused on finding and supporting new and existing talent in the UK and internationally, and breaking down the barriers that make it hard to build careers in the film, games and television industries.
Leading the sale will be Thor’s Stormbreaker prop, production-used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The legendary axe has an estimate of £15,000-20,000.
Gifted directly by Marvel Studios to BAFTA, this lot is included amongst a wealth of other memorabilia and props kindly donated by a host of notable names and BAFTA members; including Richard Curtis, Naomie Harris, Joanna Lumley, Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Tom Ford – to name but a few.
Once described by Avengers: Infinity War Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, as “the greatest weapon ever made”, this Stormbreaker axe is one of 4 and was production-used in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) – Marvel Studios’ most successful films within the franchise, and two of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Also in the spotlight will be a rare, screen-used Sith Trooper Helmet from Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019), kindly donated to the cause by Lucasfilm. The helmet was created by BAFTA award-winning costume designer Michael Kaplan in a striking red colour, distinguishing the new stormtroopers from the classic, white-armoured forces beloved by previous generations. It has an estimate of £20,000-30,000.
Further exciting additions to the sale include the pyjamas worn by Jodie Comer as Villanelle in series two of the critically-acclaimed drama series Killing Eve (estimate: £1,500-2,000), along with a football shirt signed and worn by Paul Mescal as Connell Waldron in episode one of Normal People (estimate: £300-400), a show that captured the nation when it was released earlier in the year.
