BAFTA LA 2-0 Oak Park

After a couple of soggy false starts the season began in earnest for the Fightin' Forties with an impressive victory against nemesis Oak Park. BAFTA played the first 20 minutes in Oak Park's final third before breaking through when Hench nodded home Stone's perfect corner at the back post. The duo switched roles with Hench playing provider, sending Stone away for a clinical finish before the break. The midfield of Sokolov, Yuen, Pollok, Howes, Stone and Hench worked tirelessly start to finish, but the Fightin' Forties found themselves under the cosh by the end and only the stalwart defending of Griggs, Berns, Sitwell, Ashcroft and man-of-the-match Shepherd and two excellent saves by Rufus-Isaacs kept the clean sheet. A late Diggins left-footed finish from the top of the box was erroneously ruled out as Yuen's perfect throw-in was negated by the mistaken official who had wrongly awarded the throw to Oak Park. BAFTA gets a sterner test in its pursuit of a top three finish next week against title holders Bayern Munich.
