As a respite from the toils of the film and television industry, BAFTA Los Angeles operates a successful Soccer Team
BAFTA Los Angeles hosts regular games against local and visiting teams, arranges charity and celebrity showcase matches, and competes in leagues and competitions in the LA area. The squad currently includes an all-ages team, as well as an over-40s team.
Comprising of members, guests and visiting industry colleagues, the team reaches out to local and international organizations and has arranged games with teams from Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and Los Angeles Police Department.
As part of BritWeek, the team has also collaborated to present an annual celebrity game in conjunction with the Los Angeles Galaxy at their Home Depot Stadium. The game sees film and television personalities take to the field alongside professional players for a charity exhibition game.
The BAFTA Los Angeles Soccer Team have earned their own of share of awards, including the Sala Cup in 2010 and the Championship Trophy in the 2010 Santa Clarita Soccer League.
