As the latest opportunity in our Give Something Back initiative, we are seeking members to join the finalist selection panel for the 2014 BAFTA Los Angeles Student Film Awards, one of our major initiatives to support international emerging talents.

This year’s Student Film Awards will be held on June 19th at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, and will serve as a showcase of the very best of student shorts from filmmakers across America.

We need the input of our membership to help select the finalists.

If any BAFTA member would like to participate on this year’s selection panel, we invite them to contact us.

There is a limit on the number of spots on our panel, and therefore the Student FIlm Awards Committee will select a panel that represents a cross-section of our industry. Those wishing to join the panel will be committing to approximately 12 hours of film viewing, over the course of around 3 weeks. You would not have to meet with your fellow panelists in person; we will provide password-protected viewing links to watch the films online and you can submit your scores independently.

This year’s entries are an impressively diverse selection of films and we have no doubt that you will enjoy viewing the best and brightest works from the top US film schools.

Importantly, this is an excellent opportunity to involve yourself in one of BAFTA Los Angeles’ most valued academic principles - using the expertise of our professional Membership to encouraging and rewarded excellence in upcoming filmmakers.

We hope all members will join us on June 19 when we unveil the finalists, vote for the winner on the night, and present the winning filmmaker with the BAFTA Los Angeles Student Film Award 2014.
