Contract type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: circa £24,000 per annum

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is a charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefitting the general public.

The Membership and Awards department of BAFTA work on five ceremonies per year; Film, Television, Television Craft, Children’s and Games and with over 7500 voting members worldwide, the department works to ensure that it represents the breadth and depth of the ever-changing film, television and games industries. This department now requires a highly competent individual to work closely with the head of genre to deliver the annual awards activity across the Games & Children’s ceremonies and to manage jury processes across these awards.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the Membership Manager on increasing the value of BAFTA membership and to maximise members’ engagement with BAFTA activity.

This role is ideal for someone who prides themselves on being highly organised, has meticulous attention to detail and the ability to communicate with people on all levels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of the jury processes across the Games & Children’s Awards including preparing all assets and materials for juries; recruiting jurors and being the point of contact for the jury chairs and jurors
  • Assist with checking entries for the Games & Children’s Awards and ensuring voting data and assets are uploaded and accurate
  • Respond to queries to the Awards team from members, industry professionals and entrants, particularly those relating to Games & Children’s
  • Assist the Head of Games & Children’s on BAFTA’s Games & Children’s Committee by conducting research, preparing papers and taking the minutes for monthly committee meetings.
  • Support the BAFTA branches on all entry and technical enquires in collaboration with the Head of Games & Children’s
  • Create and manage guest lists for nominees’ parties and the Awards ceremonies and set up the nominees database
  • Work alongside the Membership Manager on the Games & Children’s Membership intake including processing applications

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills including (minimum) intermediate Word and Excel and experience of database packages
  • Excellent organisational abilities, and the discipline for self-organisation without direct supervision
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to enthuse, explain, persuade and cajole whilst building working relationships with people
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Experience, knowledge of (or a passion for) the Children’s and ideally Games industries
