Although he enjoyed a wide ranging career encompassing documentaries, films and an Olympic opening ceremony, Wolper is best remembered for producing the landmark television series Roots (1977). He also oversaw its 1979 sequel, plus series including The Thorn Birds (1983), North and South (1985-86) and the feature L.A. Confidential (1997).
