A British broadcaster who combined a natural curiosity with an easygoing charm and self deprecating wit, Vernon’s considerable form was seen cycling through travelogue programmes on television after finding favour on radio. These include Fat Man Goes Norse (1987), Fat Man In Argentina (1990) and Fat Man In France (1994).
