An Irish singer and television presenter, Doonican scored five successive Top 10 albums in the UK and his biggest hits included Walk Tall and Elusive Butterfly. He was a hit hosting his own variety show, The Val Doonican Show (1965-1986), on both sides of the atlantic, as well as 25 Christmas specials.
