New Zealand born Thomason joined the BBC soon after her arrival in the UK in 1969, and over time rose to produce some of the corporation’s most prestigious news programmes. These include Nationwide, The Money Programme, Tonight and Panorama, as well as the live coverage of the 1992 general election.
