A British writer and producer best known for co-authoring Yes, Minister (1980-1984) and Yes, Prime Minister (1986-1988) with Jonathan Lynn, Jay was inspired by his encounters with politicians while working as a producer on BBC’s nightly news programme Tonight. Jay and Lynn won the BAFTA Writers’ Award in 1988.
