A British political journalist and broadcaster, Hoggart joined The Guardian from University in 1968, leaving only for a 12-year stint with The Observer before returning as a political sketchwriter in 1993, and continuing to write for the publication until December 2013. Hoggart also presented Radio 4’s The News Quiz from 1996-2006.
