As an actress Sedgwick appeared in small roles in Merchant Ivory films including Savages (1972) and Quartet (1981), but later moved behind the camera to direct and produce stories of her own. These include Blackout (1994), a drama set in a post apocalyptic London, as well as various documentary projects.
