Shin Sang-Ok

A pioneer of Korean cinema, Shin established his reputation with films such as Jiok Hwa (1958) and Sarangbang Sonnimgwa Eomeoni (1961). In a bizarre turn of events he ended up making films in North Korea, defecting back to the south in 1986. Later works include Mayumi (1990) and Jungbal (1994).
