A British actor who made his name with an Olivier Award-winning lead role in Nicholas Nickleby in 1980, Rees reprised the role for television two years later and earned an Emmy nomination. His career then took off on American television with his most popular roles coming in Cheers (1989-1993) and The West Wing (2000-2005).
