A television director who rose through the ranks from floor manager, Roberts directed episodes of major BBC dramas such as Survivors (1975-76), Juliet Bravo (1980), Tenko (1981) and Howard’s Way (1985). A mentor to other directors, he also served as a trusted chairman of the Directors’ and Producers’ Rights Society.
