The writer of some of the most popular songs in Hindi films during the 1950s and 60s, Nayyar scored his first hit with Aar Paar (1954), swiftly followed by Mr & Mrs '55 (1955) and C.I.D. (1956). He forged productive working relationships with Asha Bhosle, Guru Dutt and Mohammed Rafi.
