A Ugandan actress who appeared in the Disney biographical drama Queen of Katwe (2016), Waligwa played the close friend of the film’s prodigy protagonist who initially teaches her the rules of chess. After she was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016 her film family reportedly mobilised to help her receive treatment in India.
