A prolific American playwright who was already an established TV writer when he won a Tony Award for The Odd Couple, Simon’s play was subsequently successfully adapted for film (1968) and television (1970-1975). He received BAFTA nominations for The Sunshine Boys (1975) and The Goodbye Girl (1977) and was also a multiple Oscar and Emmy nominee.
