A prolific creative talent who spanned television, stage and film, Minghella most recently completed The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (2008) for TV. He won two BAFTAs for The English Patient (1996), with other acclaimed films including Truly Madly Deeply (1990), The Talented Mr Ripley (1999) and Cold Mountain (2003).
