A French composer who began his career as a jazz pianst and went on to score more than 250 films, Legrand composed music for films including The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) and Yentl (1983). He received BAFTA nominations for The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) and The Three Musketeers (1973), winning for Summer of ’42 (1971).
