The nephew of a movie director, Ludwig's most significant acting role came in Chaplin's Limelight (1952) as a violin playing busker. He found more lasting success as a production executive, working as Associate Producer on such films as The Devil's Brigade (1968), The Bridge At Remagen (1969) and Unforgiven (1992).
