An American writer and Aids activist who was best known for The Normal Heart, Kramer’s play which addressed the Aids crisis head on was was the subject of an award-winning screen adaptation for HBO in 2014. He received BAFTA and Oscar nominations for his screenplay for Women in Love (1969).
