A major star in his native India, Khanna came to prominence in hits such as Aradhana (1969), Sachaa Jhutha (1970), Anand (1971) and Avishkaar (1974). Subsequently a member of Parliament for the Congress Party from 1992 to 1996, he returned to acting thereafter and appeared in several popular television series.
