An American actor best known for playing the hapless foil to the Duke family, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, in The Dukes of Hazard (1979-1985). Best began acting under contract for Universal in 1949 and his other notable credits included The Killer Shrews (1959) and Shock Corridor (1963).
