A Scottish musical entertainer who sung and played piano, Alexander was best known for making up half of the folk-music duo The Alexander Brothers alongside his elder brother Tom. The pair recorded 30 albums over more than 50 years, appearing on Sunday Night at the London Palladium and their own show on STV.
