New Zealander Gostelow was a familiar face on British television from the 1960s. Appearing in such diverse fare as David Copperfield (1960), Nicholas Nickleby (1968), the BBC adaptation of The Railway Children (1968) and cop show Z Cars (1963), he proved himself a character actor of great skill and versatility.
