An American producer best known for his collaborations with George Lucas, Kurtz produced American Graffiti (1973), Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He began his career learning under Roger Corman on Two-Lane Blacktop (1971), and his later credits included The Dark Crystal (1982) and Return to Oz (1985).
