A classical British actor of the stage and screen, Finlay trained at Rada and notably starred in Bouquet of Barbed Wire (1976) and The Pianist (2002). He received BAFTA nominations for his performances in Othello (1965), Casanova (1971) and The Return of the Soldier (1982), winning for The Adventures of Don Quixote (1974).
