Along with long-time writing partner Bob Larbey, Esmonde wrote some of the best- loved British sitcoms of the 1970s and ’80s. Their most enduring hit was undoubtedly The Good Life (1975-78) but other favourites include Please, Sir! (1968-72), Get Some In! (1975-78), Ever Decreasing Circles (1984-87) and Brush Strokes (1986-91).
