A British broadcaster, writer and actor, Marks’ career began in 1969 when he joined the BBC as a television researcher. In the senior positions he went on to hold at the corporation he championed music and cultural programming, and he received a Best Arts Programme BAFTA nomination for Magic Lantern (1994).
