Blacklisted during the HUAC era, Dassin relocated to France where he enjoyed great success. His most celebrated film is Rififi (1955), but he was also responsible for acclaimed movies such as Brute Force (1947), The Naked City (1948), Night & The City (1950), Never On Sunday (1960) and Topkapi (1964).
