A towering presence on screen, Duncan was a bodyguard before turning to acting. His most memorable role was as Death Row inmate John Coffey in The Green Mile (1999) but he also appeared in films such as Armageddon (1998), The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and Planet of the Apes (2001).
