A director who helped bring an international audience to South Korean cinema, Park made his debut with Captain of the Alley (1978). His next film The Rain At Night (1979) gained further recognition, with other hits including Mother (1985), 301, 302 (1995), Farewell My Darling (1996) and Green Chair (2003).
