A British writer and producer who found success writing and creating The Liver Birds (1971-1977) and Bless This House (1971-1974), Lane wrote early episodes of both shows alongside Myra Taylor. Her other hits included Butterflies (1978-1983), Solo (1981-1982) and, perhaps her most enduring credit, Bread (1986-1991).
