As the man who directed the earliest surf movies, Browne’s talent and reputation earned him the job of shooting the waterborne sequences in Big Wednesday (1978). Films like that in turn owed much to his own features which included Cat On A Hot Foam Board (1959) and Spinning Boards (1961).
