A stand-up comedian who set a record for appearing on The Tonight Show 158 times during the Johnny Carson era, Brenner began his comedy career in New York in 1969. In 200 he notably married his fiancé Elizabeth Slater live on his HBO special, David Brenner: Back With a Vengeance!
