A British director who highlighted important social issues through her work, Bird began her career on television directing early episodes of Eastenders (1985) and Casualty (1986). Her film credits included the BAFTA-nominated Priest (1994), Face (1997) and Ravenous (1999). Bird won two TV BAFTA’s, a Children’s BAFTA, and a BAFTA Cymru award.
