An American singer who came to be known as ‘The Queen of Soul’, Franklin won 18 Grammy awards over a prolific and genre-defining career. Her music appeared in countless films from Goodfellas (1990) to Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), and she notably appeared Mrs Murphy in The Blues Brothers (1980) and Blues Brothers 2000 (1998).
