A successful photographer who turned to acting in middle age, Arbus will be best remembered for playing psychiatrist Dr Sidney Freedman in M*A*S*H (1972-83). As well as appearing in films such as Coffy (1973) he had guest roles in series including Starsky and Hutch (1979) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000).
