A British composer who began his career scoring theatre productions and working on films including Cast A Dark Shadow (1955) and Billy Budd (1962), Hopkins was perhaps more widely recognized for his weekly series of half-hour discussions of classical music on Radio 4’s Talking About Music (1954-1992).
