A British director whose career began at the BBC with You Can’t Win (1961), Bridges went on to direct series including Great Expectations (1967), Les Miserables (1967), The Wednesday Play (1968-1970) and Play For Today (1970-1981), for which he won a Best Drama Production BAFTA. His features included The Hireling (1973) and The Shooting Party (1985).
