TV Awards Entertainment Performance Timeline

25 May 12

Explore this interactive timeline detailing the history of the Entertainment Performance category at the Academy's Television Awards.

In 2011, Graham Norton picked up the prize for Entertainment Performance at the British Academy Television Awards , joining a long line of entertainers who have claimed the top spot since the Academy's inception.

The category has gone through a number of mutations through the years: it was first titled 'Entertainment Personality' from 1956 to 1960, before reemerging in the late 60s as the 'Light Entertainment Performance'.

Explore our interactive photo timeline below to see some of the faces that have stepped up to the podium over the decades.

Note on dates: years refer to when the relevant programmes were broadcast - the ceremony may have taken place in the following year.
