Mads

(13-08-2012)

"Skyrim ring a bell? Why didn't Skyrim win anything? They didn't even get nominated! "

Dan

(13-15-2012)

"Starcraft 2 falls short on both awards? Just shows that Bafta really does not have any idea about video games... stick to movies. Bet once blizzard found out they had lost to "2KGames" the thinking was "ahhh well let em have something""

Derp

(19-05-2011)

"The only games even worth a full price tag on this list are: StarCraft 2 Mass Effect 2 Heavy Rain Plants vs Zombies (but played on the PC, as controller is awful for it)."

Pete

(25-07-2011)

"I was surprised Blops was even entered for use of audio. The only good audio in that was SILENCE! Bad Company 2 is the best sounding game there is. Nothing beats walking up a hill to the sound of .50cal HMGs blasting away and the drone of helicopters overhead. Looking forward to 2012's awards. Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2 for graphics anyone?"

qwertyuiop

(25-07-2011)

"black ops doesen't deserve to win is terrible. Battlefield should deserved to win. Battlefield has a really good story and technical innovation. Black ops doesent have nothing"

a

(22-32-2011)

"black ops deserved to win it. it was the zombies that brought it out on top."

Rom

(26-31-2011)

"Call of duty shouldn't have won anything. Anyway, congrats for the winners."

rifat

(11-29-2011)

"how come killzone 2 is no where there its an awesome game"

Hurrrr Durrr

(11-44-2011)

"Red Dead should've won the GAME award. I'm sorry but BLOPS doesn't compare to that."

Zac

(06-36-2011)

"I am shocked but happy that F1 2010 won best sport game It's a great game with unbelievable graphics and I just love it "

Paddy_0000

(04-26-2011)

"Pretty fair, of all the games I played this past 12 months this is pretty accurate. I loved Mass Effect 2 but Heavy Rain did beat it in terms of story (only slightly). The only two I'm not sure about are the Gameplay and MP awards, but I didn't play Mario Galaxy 2 and I don't really like racing games so large bias. "

Mihai

(04-24-2011)

"I can't believe someone would actually consider FIFA manager series for a positive award..."

Brandon

(04-22-2011)

"Assassins Creed Brotherhood came 2nd in lots of catagories ! :D It's my favourite game ! Glad It Won Action Though :P"

Ken Alder

(04-21-2011)

"Why has there been no mention of World of Warcraft and more specifcially; the latest addition - Cataclysm? This game is epic and in terms of sheer size, content, player interaction and the amount of money it brings in monthly; surely it should have ranked up there somewhere!!"

X

(04-21-2011)

"Fallout New Vegas as a strategy game - These people surely know what they are doing..."

Ffffuuuu

(04-20-2011)

"The strategy award is completely messed up. Starcraft has revitalized e-sports, fallout is not a strategy game, and Civ 5 will be forgotten in a couple of months."

Jonathan O'Brien

(04-20-2011)

"Those complaining about the lack of Minecraft: It is still in Beta release, meaning it has no official release as of yet. All in good time - maybe this year. :)"

iTrousers

(04-19-2011)

"Halo Reach not even nominated for soundtrack despite Marty O'Donnel being the best composer in the damn industry. Son, I am disappoint."

TheFakeWaffles

(04-18-2011)

"Saying Limbo is one of the best games of the generation is a naive statement. Yeah, It does very well to immerse the player and its art and sound work are no short of genius, but as far as everything else goes it is barely able to impress. The gameplay is so-so and no attempt to keep the gamer playing past one completion is bordering on unacceptable in this day and age."

Alex Mannings

(04-17-2011)

"Halo was not a flop, check on all game sites, ALL halo games got over 8/10, and except from Halo wars and ODST all got 9.5 or above"

sickman

(04-17-2011)

"Halo Reach should' ve won multiplayer, as thats what made it 10/10 for most game sites as Hot Pursuits nultiplayer is't at all good, in fact, it definetely shouldn't have even been nominated,"

veato

(04-16-2011)

"Whoever said GT5 is the leader in graphics is MAD! Yes the premium cars look lovely but the majority of cars look like they've been imported from the PS1, the environments are bland and the shadows are jaggier than my bread knife! COD winning the game of the year is also a joke. I really dont understand how it won. Same old rinse repeat graphics and gameplay as the last 3 COD games. My games of the year were Limbo, Reach, AC:Brotherhood and ME2."

Alex

(04-16-2011)

"It looks like you took a list of the best selling games of last year, and threw them at the categories without a second thought. There are so many more games that came out last year that, at the very least, deserve an honourable mention. "

Alex W

(04-15-2011)

"For the shooting/ racing games you've got to remember it's hard to change them all too much apart from things like graphics and music style because in essence they are just shoot these guys move on and shoot more. With these games e.g. Halo they're never a new addition just a refinement of an older one, something i find people tend to forget. Glad to see Bad Co 2 for something rather than cod."

Sean

(04-48-2011)

"As a mature gamer, I find it unbeleivable that Red Dead did not sweep the board! Quite simply it is an astonishing game. Well done to Mass Effect though. Can't argue with that. BTW, who picks/decides which games go in which categories? "

Yann Chevalier

(04-47-2011)

"Mass Effect 2 and Heavy Rain were the games of the year ! Not Black Ops ! And SMG 2 instead of Heavy Rain for best gameplay come on !"

Emma R

(04-47-2011)

"i thought assassin's creed deserved to win artist award, soundtrack and gameplay because its beatiful and such an amzing game, mass effect is mostly a sexual based shoot em up game, how is that allowed to win? and heavy rain ????!!!!"

El

(04-46-2011)

"When are people going to tire of COD? The formula became stale after MW1, the fact it won is outrageous. For those of you who voted it, experiment a little. Try Bad Company 2, Killzone or even Halo. Just because MW1 was a good shooter, doesn't mean every COD is!!"

9444

(04-43-2011)

"I think God Of War III was really the best game .It will always be a classic hack-and-slash."

Chris

(04-42-2011)

"I have both Civilization 5 and Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty and i must say Starcraft is far better than Civ5. The campaign the multiplayer and the signleplayer skirmish are all top notch in SC2. Civ5, although a good game, is less advaturous, there is far less to do than in its predecessor Civ4. The Hex grid was a nice feature though. But of course Minecraft is the winner overall clearly, infact the reason it must not be listed here must be because it would have won every award."

Tahir Mangarah

(04-42-2011)

"Mafia 2 Should Have Been There =("

Mr Prof

(04-41-2011)

"Really glad to see 'Heavy Rain' getting some recognition. A landmark game in terms of storytelling."

MrKip

(04-41-2011)

"I apologise if this has been mentioned already but I presume Minecraft hasn't been entered/nominated as techically it hasn't been released yet."

Jameson

(04-41-2011)

"Not a single mention of minecraft or amnesia. Wow. I mean, ACB is good, but how could you include all those others without mentioning those 2???"

P912

(14-10-2011)

"Mass Effect 2 and LIMBO were the best games of this year by far, if not the best of a generation, and are games that will define the medium. Mass Effect 2 had an immersive universe, compelling characters whose lives you were responsible for and choices that presented complex moral dilemmas. LIMBO was a beautiful yet haunting story of a boy's journey that every person can take a unique interpretation of. Roger Ebert once said "Video Games can never be art". He's obviously never had to choose whether to enslave a species or kill them in ME2, or seen a hideous spider hunt him down in LIMBO. Video games are art. "

AxemanPhil

(14-09-2011)

"For all of you complaining about the lack of recognition for Red Dead Redemption, the reason it isn't nominated is that Rockstar didn't submit it to Bafta for consideration. It's not Bafta's fault. It's nominated for the GAME award cos that is a public vote outside the remit of the Bafta jury."

Ben Fox

(14-07-2011)

"I <3 Minecraft"

Max

(10-00-2011)

"I am suprised GT5 didn't get more nominations, especially technical inovation. It is the leader when it comes to graphics"

James

(10-59-2011)

"I really think Alan Wake should have been nominated for more =/"

Ssscrudddy

(10-58-2011)

"F1 2010 by Codemasters should NOT win an award. While the game should be fantastic, it was released crawling with bugs, many of them gamebreakers. 2 months after the launch they released a patch which broke more than it fixed. They then withdrew support, to the point where any1 who kept asking about known issues too much would be banned from their forums, they refuse to acknowledge the bugs still exist, they wont answer even emails to the official support address. Its like they want to pretend nothing is wrong. 1 of the teams isnt even playable, to the point where online racing leagues are banning the use of the Force India team due to the problems. If Modders can fix a lot in this game then why cant Codemasters. They essentially released a beta pretending it was a finished game, took the feedback from the customers, then went silent. In no way do they deserve an award"

John Kemery

(10-57-2011)

"Where is Minecraft, it was the best game of this year."

Bezee

(07-09-2011)

"Halo Reach makes me proud :) Good thing Red Dead is only nominated for GOTY, It didn't qualify for other categories to me. "

Alex Mannings

(07-08-2011)

"Halo: Reach had no storyline, or if it did it was appaling. Defend this, run there, kill something, then defend that, run over there. Considering the book came out before the game (by nine years), I was thoroughly annoyed by the lack of attention and anachronistic details by Bungie. THERE WERE NO BRUTES, DRONES OR PHANTOMS in Halo: Combat Evolved. Mass Effect 2 deserves its awards. It was clever, intricate, well-acted (Martin Sheen for Illusive Man especially), deeply-plotted and hell, the suicide mission was so brilliantly executed I nearly died from the surge of adrenaline. Black Ops and Call of Duty in general are overrated. Same old shooting and killing, just in different environments. No skill needed to play it, just a decent gun and grenades. Seriously, I cannot imagine anything like that happen in the real world, yet they attempt to make it realistic. The rest I haven't played, so I can't judge. Bioshock [One] was epic, but the second has been met with slightly less favourable reviews. AC2 was also good, though Brotherhood seems good as well. Overall, from what knowledge I have gathered, in that list, Mass Effect is top-dog."

james s

(07-07-2011)

"black ops may have multiplayer in the bag but its a shadow of modern warfare 2"

Luthien

(02-16-2011)

"Uhm, excuse me, why was RDR not nominated for more awards? I understand that these things are subjective and that I may have enjoyed it more than everyone else, but it did win lots of GOTY awards, or at least runner up after ME2. It's the best game I've played in years, and it didn't even get nominated for story? Poor form."

mike h

(02-14-2011)

"LAUGHABLE that AC3 us up for an award for multiplayer. One of the worst experiences I've had online. Glitchy, inconsistent and a pain to join with friends. Decent for a first attempt but needs ALOT of work to keep up with the big boys"

Benjamin Kuch

(02-12-2011)

"A fine list... with one tremendously shocking exception: how on earth was Red Dead Redemption overlooked entirely? The majority of gamers would agree that it is among the Top 3 games of 2010. This is outrageous!"

rayk

(02-12-2011)

"Wicked shame heavey rain and ac brotherhood are up for most of the same stuff, I can't decide"

Kav

(02-11-2011)

"Why is Red Dead Redemption only up for game of the year. It was a fantastic game and better than most last year, should have a few more nominations."

Tom Cole

(02-10-2011)

"What? You've got to be kidding me - this list is awful. True, a lot of good games are on here, but they all seem to be the same in every category, ie I have seen Super Mario Galaxy 2 appear in over 4 categories. Darn people, this list is just wrong! No originallity!"

otiose

(02-10-2011)

"The list is absolutely shocking, I am sure they haven't played the game even before they nominated. but then they have so many categories .. "

Rob Barton

(02-09-2011)

"I see people moaning already about these nominations, but they seem pretty right on to me. The comment by Richard Coburn is laughable, if your attention span is short & you lack the necessary basic skills, don't blame it on the games! Can most people posting here honestly claim they could've done a far superior job or developing these games? No? Then button it"

Peter1

(02-08-2011)

"COD Black ops is treyarch they arent as good as infinity wards original members. As for anything else Red Dead is awesome but Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games in ages. GT5 is amazing and bioshock 2 has not got a better story than ME2 I cant even be bothered to play it its good but dull. expansion packs aren't games joe its got enough awards etc etc anyway. Fanbois /sigh ooo and thank you for not putting FF13 on that game is dreadful!"

Darkpowder

(02-29-2011)

"BAFTA needs to start recognising the real world modding work that independent game development do for the gaming community. Their contribution in revitalising old games like Battlefield 2 isn't as widely known as it should be. "Mod of the Year" should be a category next time. My nomination would be Project Reality for BF2."

sfad

(02-03-2011)

"I really think James bond blood stone was under rated. I really don't see why it should be up there (apart from music). I really enjoyed it."

Jossy

(02-49-2011)

"Where is minecraft, it was the best game this year!"

asskicker

(02-47-2011)

"cod black ops was a real disaster less weapons than other cods no red dot sight ... stupid graphics and physix btw fallout new vegas is rpg not strategy "

Jon

(02-46-2011)

"Mr. Coburn, you certainly are a cynical person. In fact, you may take the cake for most cynical person I've ever come across. If you can't find much to like on this list then your taste in video games is disturbingly small."

Marc

(02-46-2011)

"FIFA 11 nominated for Best Game instead of Red Dead Redemption. Looking over the nominations you can instantly see which gamers are already decided as winners. Pro Evo or GT5 aren't going to win when FIFA is in there. BioShock 2 in the action category. That game was horrible. I would put Vanquish, Just Cause 2 way ahead of it. The only title I would like to see do well on here is Heavy Rain. Mass Effect 2 and God of War 3 I've still yet to play."

Mick Pryde

(02-44-2011)

"Red Dead Redemption didn't get enough recognition!"

Alice

(02-38-2011)

"Halo Reach should be nominated for so many more things, like artistic achievement, best game and story, it's such an amazing achievement for a game, but it is always overlooked, most people just settling for Black Ops"

wordnoise

(02-37-2011)

"Wow, some very bitter comments so far... I am just glad to see so many nominations for AC: Brotherhood but sad to see it's not on the GAME list. It is such a fantastic franchise and keeps getting better and better with each new edition. There are also some other really great games on the various lists. For pure gaming fun the Black ops multiplayer is superb and the single player is excellent. BC 2, Mass Effect 2 and Mario Galaxy 2 were my other favourites. It's surprising how pompous some opinions can be though..."

Sim

(02-37-2011)

"'Black Ops' is this awards 'King's Speech'."

Peter Lidster

(02-36-2011)

"pokemon should be nominated for strategy, believe me. I'm glad mario galaxy is nominated because it was amaing and should hands down win the music award. I'm also confused about world of warcraft.Professor layton should always be nominated for story, because it practically is a book.Nintendo need more credit."

Lukeyboy

(02-36-2011)

"No Goldeneye 007 on Wii that was my game of the year :("

lucie <3

(02-36-2011)

"It's kinda boring how they've put some games down like five times. All I could see was call of duty this and call of that..."

David Rees

(02-32-2011)

"Excellent to see LIMBO with multiple nominations. Despite being a short XBL Arcade game, it thoroughly deserves to be up there for Game of the Year. It MUST win Use of Audio Award. No game has ever made such clever use of a soundtrack/ambient effects. I agree with scotland1 below, Black Ops really is a poor game. Despite being a massive fan of the franchise I took it back after a week. Looks, sounds and feels very cheap, when you consider what Infinity Ward had done with its predecessor. Treyarch must have laughed themselves senseless when it made all those sales records at the end of last year. "

J.c

(02-31-2011)

"A good list. Everyone should stop complaining. It's probably better than you could do on a game. Now shut up and enjoy them for what they are. "

Andrew Simpson

(02-30-2011)

"I'd rather play Minecraft than any of the games above. It's sold 1.3 million copies and is still in Beta."

Daniela

(02-30-2011)

"Black Ops is a joke!!! I hope Assassin's Creed beats that attempt at a video game :)"

Paul

(02-29-2011)

"Where is Minecraft???"

ibster

(02-29-2011)

"How some of these games made it here is unbelievable. These awards have lost all credibility for me. Halo reach should be in some other categories as well. It stands head and shoulders above all of these."

"Agree with previous posters - this is a fairly terrible bunch of nominees. The majority of these games were overhyped and shouldn't be considered for any awards..."

"Too true richard, after 20 years of gaming I must say 2010 was weak. Money ruins all"

"First of Joe how can WoW be in it when it hasent changed anything in 6 years just add expansion packs. Also cod doesnt deserve to be ther AT ALL as it was an disgustingly bad game. Red Dead redemption shoould be up there with mass effect as well as it was just as good as it and it was something different. for GAme award 2010 the two that shouldnt be there are black ops and halo as they did nothing new and although halos story was decent it was just a rehash just like black op is a rehash "

"wow if this is the list of 'best' games last year then it truely was a teriblle year for games. this reads like a list of expensive but truely mediocre games that I wouldn't even recomend playing with a couple of execptions. Allot of these games I havent even bothered to complete as they were so poor I just stopped playing them and considering most of them are very short thats a damning sign."

"CoD: Black Ops is only there so 10 year olds don't get upset. It is a terrible game that was lazily made to cash in on the franchise."

"The fact that there is no mention of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm in either the Artistic Achievement, Story or Original Music catagories comepletely baffles me. This list needs a re-think!"
